NOAA conducts workshops in person throughout the watershed and online as webinars for organizations interested in applying for B-WET funding. In addition to these workshops, NOAA regularly presents at local and regional environmental education conferences. In 2008, more than 80 individuals representing a cross-section of nonprofit organizations, K-12 schools and school divisions, higher-learning institutions, state agencies, and regional partnerships attended the workshops and webinars. Many of those organizations continued discuss their project with NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office staff and ultimately submitted a proposal for funding. Attendance at a grant training workshop is not required to apply for funding, but the workshops do help applicants align their project proposal with B-WET priorities more efficiently. Applicants can discuss their projects with NOAA staff--as well as other workshop participants--to hone their project and make it more competitive. |
