ESA Status Review of the Native Oyster

After reviewing the best available scientific and commercial information, NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) determined in June 2007 that listing the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) was not warranted at that time.
