Grants

The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office typically issues grants and cooperative agreements in the following programs:

B-WET Chesapeake (Bay Watershed Education and Training) is a competitively based program that supports existing environmental education programs, fosters the growth of new programs, and encourages the development of partnerships among environmental education programs throughout the entire Chesapeake Bay watershed. Projects support organizations that provide students with a Meaningful Watershed Education Experience (MWEE) or related professional development opportunities for teachers.

The Office's Fisheries program funds grants that are competitively based and supports research, monitoring, modeling, and management addressing various aspects of Chesapeake Bay fisheries. Funded projects improve knowledge and understanding of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem by providing biological information and life history characteristics for many individual Chesapeake Bay fisheries stocks and by broadening the multispecies knowledge base for development of fisheries ecosystem planning.

The Habitat Restoration grant program, supported by the NOAA Restoration Center, focuses on community-based habitat restoration. The program's objective is to bring together citizens, organizations, industry, students, landowners, and local, state, and federal agencies to restore habitat throughout the coastal United States. The program funds projects directly, as well as through partnerships with national and regional organizations.
