The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office works with partners to track and analyze data about the Bay. NCBO makes this information
available to the public through a variety of tools designed to share data about the Bay, fisheries and habitat in the Bay,
and current meterological, environmental, and water-quality conditions around the Bay.
The Tools
- Bay Encylopedia - A listing of Fish and SAV species with descriptions and data graphs.
- Chesapeake Prediction Center - A tool that provides a wide range of graphical and data products related to the Chesapeake Bay. Initially the site focuses on physical environmental conditions, including weather, winds, waves, currents, and tides.
- Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) Atlases - This tool is used to download ESI maps and data which identify critical habitats, beach access points, and other areas that could be affected by a spill incident. The maps also include data on the distribution of key animal species
- Water Quality Interpolator - A tool that computes water quality concentrations throughout the Chesapeake Bay and/or tributary rivers from water quality measured at point locations.
