The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office (NCBO) coordinates a research program on Atlantic menhaden. In November 2006, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) adopted Addendum III to Amendment I of the Atlantic menhaden Management Plan, which established a research program for the Chesapeake Bay to focus on four research priorities recommended by the Technical Committee. This research is expected to provide information to the ASMFC Atlantic Menhaden Management Board to support more informed management decisions.
To enable sharing of research findings, NCBO is sponsoring four WebEx research calls in spring 2008. Each call is an opportunity for research collaborators to present results of funded activities to the larger community. WebEx technology allows participation from many locations without the burdens of travel. Registration is required to enable distribution of information including agendas, transcripts and information on how to connect to the calls. (Separate registration is required for each meeting.) An accomplishments report with abstracts of ongoing work and summaries of each call will be produced and provided to the Atlantic Menhaden Management Board.
