NOAA Logo

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a formal statement NOAA Position Statement.pdf during testimony given to the Environmental Matters Committee of the Maryland House of Delegates on March 11, 2005.

Vims Logo

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) at the College of William and Mary, the group that has done the most research on C. ariakensis, issued a one-page position statement Adobe on November 28, 2001.

UMCES Logo

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) also issued a position statement Adobe

Deleware Logo New Jersey

The states of Delaware and New Jersey issued a joint statement in 2004 opposing the introduction of C. ariakensis by Maryland or Virginia due to concerns about possible spread of the oysters to the Atlantic coast.

CBP Logo

The Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) established their policy for introductions of non-native species in 1993.

The Citizens Advisory Committee to the Chesapeake Executive Council dedicated a section of their 2004 Report to the Executive Council Adobe to describe their position on the introduction of C. ariakensis.

In 2001,the Chesapeake Bay Program Federal Agencies Committee released their recommendations Adobe on the proposed introduction of C. ariakensis for aquaculture production.
